Come out and enjoy an old-fashioned Saturday night in the Flint Hills.
Saturdays were the "social" event of the small towns years ago. You can
experience that again on August 17, in Alma, Kansas. Relay for Life of
Wabaunsee County is sponsoring the 5th annual Hot Alma Nights Cruise Night.
Bring your classic car, park on Main Street and listen to the "oldies"
while you stroll the streets of Alma. Renew old friendships and make new
ones. Shop at the Alma Community Arts Center, the antique stores or visit
the Wabaunsee County Historical Museum. The Dance Spot Dancers will
provide a little entertainment during the evening. Then indulge in the
local cuisine of beirocks, ribs, pizza, brats, steaks, ice cream, cookies,
candies, and more at the Alma Bakery, Chunky's, Deb's, Gambinos and Puffys-
Alma Food Mart.
This year we are also offering an optional cruise thru the Flint Hills.
You may take a drive west of Alma and view the old stone farm homes, the
grassy hills of the Flint Hills and even have an opportunity to view the
old one-room Volland schoolhouse. The drive will then take you to Alta
Vista for drinks and/or homemade ice cream from the Masons Lodge. The
cruise will begin at 3.
If you have a classic car we would love to have you join us on Main Street
for the festivities. Car registration is $5 and begins at 2:30.
There will be event t-shirts for sale, a 50/50 pot and a raffle consisting
of Clint Bowyer autographed items. All proceeds will benefit Relay for
Life of Wabaunsee County.
If you haven't had enough fun, stay for the After-party beginning at 9PM at
DJ's Tavern. There will be a $5 cover charge. You can dance to Three of a
Kind.
